When the time comes to rent your property, whether it is a villa with pool, a village house or an apartment, there are always questions about what

security measures must be met

Here is a list of recommendations to ensure that your property is safe for both your clients and yourself and avoid nasty shocks.

  1. Have a first aid kit
  2. Have a list of emergency numbers (local police, ambulance, fire brigade). On the same list put the exact address of the property and the google maps reference.
  3. Have a fire extinguisher on each floor of the house.
  4. Have a smoke alarm on each floor of the house.
  5. If there are domestic items which use gas you should have a carbon monoxide detector,
  6. All stairways and terraces should have safety railings.
  7. Provide clients with instructions about the property, especially where the general water shut off valve and fuse box are located in case there is any malfunction during their stay and the telephone number of the person to contact should this happen..
  8. If the property has a pool , it is highly recommended that it is fenced around in some way  even if only provisionally should families with young children be staying there
  9. If it is a country house, keep the surrounding perimeter clean and free of weeds and stubble to avoid fires.
  10. Your house insurance must cover civil responsibility

If you follow these simple security instructions your clients will enjoy a peaceful holiday and you will be able to relax as well.
